when we formed the precipitate because it was fun entertaining and i learned a lot!! it was also cool to touch the precipitate! now i know another word for solid
My favorite chemistry lab was the reclamation of copper using metals. I found it very interesting because there were many chemical reactions like change in color, change in temperature, production of bubbles, and we saw oxidation. My favorite part of the lab was when we first added the metals to the used copper chloride solution becuase that's when everything started to happen, (the chemical reactios.) most of my science partners and I enjoyed this lab very much.
My favorite chemistry lab was when we reclaimed the metal using solids. I was not here for this lab, but it was very entertaining to here from my friends what happpened! It bubbled and heated up. I also injoyed this lab very much because of how many people were surprised to find out the precipitate was copper, not rust. This lab has made me more interested in science!
My favorite chemistry lab was when we reclaimed the copper from the used copper chloride solution with different solutions. I enjoyed watching the interesting chemical reactions. Plus, my group was cool.
My favorite chemistry lab was reclaiming using liquid because I like to see the chemical reactions occur like when the substance change color to blue when we had ten drops of the used copper carbonate to the used copper chloride solution we used to make circuit boards!! It also started to bubble that was very informative!!
It was very hard for me to pick my favorite chemistry lab this quarter. All of the labs were fantastically entertaining and engaging. They gave us a chance to use personal observations and inferences make our own scientific discoveries! My favorite lab though, would have to be etching the circuit boards. This is because I have always been interested in energy/electricity ect... and in this lab I got to discover how circuit boards are actually produced. I learned so much from this lab, for example the first step to producing a circuit board. What you do is take a plate with one side that is copper(conducter) and one side plastic(insilater). Then in the lab, we cleaned the copper side with steel wool, so the copper was spotless and so dirt didn't affect the chemical reaction. Next all we did was trace a fun design on the copper side with sharpie!(This is to protect the copper from under the sharpie so it's not removed by the etching solution) Thats it! The first part to producing a circuit board! The rest of the lab we performed consisted of a few more steps. We placed our circuit boards into the etching solution for 24 hours and when we came back the next day the lab was almost over. Then all we had to do was remove the sharpie from the circuit board.(with steel wool) Finally, we used to wires with metal clips at the end and attatched then to either end of the circuit board we created. Now the to wires were connected to a battery, this is what powered the mini light bulb attached. All that was left to do is see if our circuit boards were succesful in conducting and passing the electricity. In conclusion, this lab was very fun and definatley my favorite! I learned alot about producing circuit boards!(obviously c:)
My favorite chemistry lab was the one in which we reclaimed copper from the used copper chloride with liquids. It was fun to see the different chemical reactions. Plus, I enjoyed working with my group.
My favorite lab was the one that we reclaimed copper using metals and seeing how the copper was formed around the aluminum. After that with the ammonia test we tested the liquids to see if there was any copper left in the solution. I think this labs were fun and great to see what is causing our world to suffer today.Thank you Mrs.Montana for these wonderful labs and trusting us with these harmful chemicals!!
(2nd post!) After all the fun, entertaining, hands-on labs we have performed this quarter it is hard to pick a favorite. All of theme inabled us as students to be real scientists and make discoveries through these experiments. My favorite lab though would have to be when we produced circuit boards. This is because, I have always been into electronics, and how they work. When we etched the circuit boards, I learned so much! For instance the first part on how to make a circuit board.
To begin with you have a plate that has a platic side(insilator) and a copper side(conducter). You then take the plate and gently rub steel wool on the copper side. This is so the copper is clean and dirt/dust doesn't effect the chemical reaction that takes place in the etching solution. Next, you take a sharpie and illustrate a cute design on the copper side of the plate.(just for fun/at least straight line) Then all you do is place the plate into the etching solution! There you have it, the first part to producing a circuit board! There are a few more steps that follow, that I will explain as breif as possible.
After the plate sits in the solution for 24 hours, we removed it from the copper chloride solution(waste created) and removed the sharpie. When we removed the sharpie(with steel wool) it revealed a copper design. Now remember, this design had to be nice and thick so that the energy/electricity could pass through easily. Then we tested our circuit boards!(best part!!!)
We were given a battery with wirers attatched to it, and a lightbulb attatched to the two wires. On the end of the wires were metal clips which we used to attatch the wires onto our circuit boards. Then we watched first hand and were able to see if our circuit board passed electricity through themselves to the lightbulb.(if this worked the lightbulb would have lit up) To my great satisfaction, my groups's lightbulb did in fact light up, proving our lab succesful. This lab was definatley my favorite because of all the knowledge I gained.(it was also just very fun!!!)
p.s. my first post was MUCH BETTER, but sadly :( it was deleated
